How do I know if the agent is a ‘Registered Migration Agent’ with MARA?

Section 280 of the Migration Act 1958 states that “a person who is not a registered migration agent (with MARA) must not give immigration assistance”. Penalty of up to $6,600.

Therefore, if you do not use a registered migration agent, you put yourself at risk of migration fraud by someone who has no knowledge on immigration procedures or is not actually able to provide the service for you.

You can do a search on the MARA register using the agent’s MARA number, also known as MARN.
